How to produce polycarbonate sheet and film?
The production involves several intricate processes to ensure the material's desired properties and quality. Here is an overview of the typical production processes for polycarbonate sheet and film:


1. Raw Material Preparation:
The raw material is 100% pure high-quality polycarbonate resin pellets. The brand of polycarbonate pellets is Sabic.
2. Extrusion:
The polycarbonate resin pellets are heated and melted like water in an extruder.The molten polycarbonate is then extruded through a flat die,then form a continuous sheet of film.
3. Cooling and Solidification:
The extruded sheet passes through a cooling procedure to harden the molten polycarbonate.
In order to obtain the appropriate thickness and surface properties, controlled cooling is essential.
4. Optional Orientation:
In rare circumstances, the film may undergo orientation to enhance its mechanical qualities. To align the polymer chains, this may require stretching the film in one or both directions.
5. Casting:
In order to ensure exact thickness control and surface smoothness, the film is passed through a series of rollers throughout the casting process.
6. Rolling and Annealing:
An intentional process of heating and cooling called annealing is applied to the film in order to reduce internal tensions and enhance its general characteristics, including dimensional stability.
7. Slitting:
The wide film is then slit into narrower rolls according to the desired width specifications,which is easy to handle and pack.
While the thickness above 0.5mm will be made in sheet. PC sheet will be slit into 915mmx1830mm per sheet.
8. Quality Control:
After the entire production process, nex step is to make the quality control measures. We will check the thickness uniformity, optical clarity, surface defects, and adherence to specifications.
9. Packaging:
The finished polycarbonate film in rolls are carefully packaged by PE bag and cartons to protect them during transportation and storage.
If in sheet, PC sheet will be packed by craft paper.
10. Shipping:
The finished PC sheets or rolls are then shipped to customers for use in various applications.
